India’s four popular midsize SUVs – Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster and Honda Elevate – are set to go hybrid in 2026-2027. The Renault Duster hybrid is scheduled to launch by Diwali 2026, the new-generation Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are expected to receive strong hybrid powertrains in 2027. Honda Cars India hasn’t yet confirmed the Elevate hybrid; however, media reports suggest that the SUV could hit roads in the second half of 2026.
Here’re all the key details we know so far about these upcoming hybrid SUVs.
Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos Hybrid

Hyundai and Kia are expected to electrify their proven 1.5L petrol engine for future hybrid models including the next-gen Creta and the Seltos. Codenamed SX3, the all-new Creta is expected to derive design inspiration from the Hyundai Crater concept. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be longer and offer massive road presence. Most interior upgrades are likely to be similar to those seen in the new Kia Seltos. The SUV will also carry forward its existing 1.5L engine options along with the new hybrid setup.
Renault Duster Hybrid

The Renault Duster Hybrid features a 1.8L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing power worth 109bhp, paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. The combined output is rated at 160bhp and 172Nm of torque. Visually, the hybrid version will look largely similar to its ICE counterpart, with the addition of ‘Hybrid’ badging on the exterior.
Honda Elevate Hybrid

The powertrain specifications of the Honda Elevate hybrid are not available at the moment. However, the carmaker is likely to use the Honda City e:HEV’s Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid system, which consists of a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors – one working as an electric generator and the other providing propulsion. The SUV might get an eCVT gearbox for performing transmission duties. In terms of pricing, the Elevate hybrid is expected to command a premium of around Rs 2 lakh – Rs 2.5 lakh premium over the standard petrol version.
