Buckel up! The upcoming weeks are going to be action-packed for the Indian automobile industry. Four major OEMs – Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Kia – are set to launch their highly-anticipated SUVs. The iconic Tata Sierra (ICE version) SUV will make a comeback on 25th November, followed by official unveiling of the Mahindra XEV 9S 7-seater electric SUV on 27th November, 2025.
Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce its first electric offering in India – the e Vitara – on 2nd December. The long-awaited Tata Harrier and Safari petrol will go on sale on 9th December, while the next-generation Kia Seltos will make its world debut on 10th December, 2025. Let’s take a closer look at the key details of these upcoming SUVs.
Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra will initially be offered only with petrol and diesel engine options, while its electric iteration will arrive in early 2026. Tata is likely to use its all-new 1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.5L turbocharged petrol engines along with a 1.5L diesel engine (possibly tuned for higher output). Similar to Tata’s new-age models, the Sierra will be packed with several advanced features and tech.
Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S is essentially the electric version of the XUV700 SUV, sharing several design elements, platform, component and powertrains with the XEV 9e. Official teasers confirm that the SUV will offer triple screens, two-spoke leatherette wrapped steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, sliding second-row seats and a new gear lever.
Maruti e Vitara

Similar to the export model, the India-spec Maruti e Vitara will be available with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The dual-motor and AWD setup will be reserved for the larger 61kWh battery pack, while a single motor and FWD configuration will come as standard. The 49kWh FWD, 61kWh FWD and 61kWh AWD variants will deliver claimed range of 344km, 428km and 394km, respectively.
Tata Harrier/Safari Petrol

Following the Sierra’s debut, Tata will launch the petrol versions of the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs. Both models will feature a 1.5L TGDi (turbocharged, direct injection) petrol engine, pushing out power worth 170PS and 280Nm of torque. No cosmetic changes or feature upgrades are expected on these petrol iterations.
New Kia Seltos

The next-generation Kia Seltos will make its official debut in the second week of December, 2025. The SUV is expected to receive noticeable upgrades inside and out, while retaining the existing engine setup. If media reports are to be believed, the 2026 Kia Seltos 1.5L diesel variant might get a new 7-speed automatic gearbox alongside the existing 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
