Upcoming SUVs In India By Diwali 2026
Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento will hit showrooms on September 4, 2026. With an estimated starting price of Rs 30 lakh, it will be positioned against the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tayron. The SUV lineup will come with 1.6L strong hybrid and 2.0L diesel engine options along with an AWD configuration. An official teaser has also confirmed that the Sorento will feature Kia’s AI Assistant.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV
JSW MG Motor India will unveil the new Hector Tomahawk 7-seater electric SUV on August 26, 2026. It’s expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh – Rs 25 lakh, and will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV. Based on the all-new ADAPT architecture, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV is likely to feature a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with a 201bhp electric motor, delivering a claimed CLTC range of 530km.
Hyundai Bayon-Based SUV
The Hyundai Bayon-based SUV will be the brand’s second offering in the midsize SUV segment, directly challenging the Maruti Victoris. It will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s portfolio, and will be sold alongside the Creta. As per media reports, the new Hyundai midsize SUV could be offered with naturally aspirated petrol and CNG powertrain options.
Tata Safari EV
The Tata Safari EV has been confirmed for launch during the 2026 Diwali season. It will be the brand’s new flagship electric offering, which will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S. While its official powertrain details are yet be revealed, the electric SUV is expected to share the 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs with the Harrier EV.
Jetour J2
The Jetour J2 will be JSW Motors’ first offering as an independent carmaker in India. In select global market, the SUV is available with a 156bhp, 1.5L direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual motors and a 26.7kWh battery pack. The PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) offers an all-electric range of 139km and a combined driving range of over 1,000km.
Renault Duster Hybrid
Renault Duster hybrid is set to launch during 2026 Diwali season. However, the first batch of the hybrid SUV has already been sold out even before its market arrival. It will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. Renault has confirmed that the Duster hybrid can complete up to 80 percent of city drives in EV mode.
