The Indian automobile industry will witness multiple strong hybrid SUV launches over the next couple of years. Here, we discuss key details of seven upcoming hybrid SUVs that are worth waiting for. The lineup will begin with the new Renault Duster hybrid, which is scheduled to launch around Diwali 2026. Nissan will also introduce its own version of the Duster hybrid later this year or early next year.
Kia Motor India will enter the hybrid SUV segment this year with the debut of the Sorento premium three-row SUV, which will be followed by the Kia Seltos hybrid in 2027. Hyundai and Honda are set to introduce strong hybrid versions of their popular Creta and Elevate midsize SUVs, respectively. Maruti Suzuki is working on its own strong hybrid powertrain, which will debut in the Fronx sometime next year.
Renault Duster Hybrid

Renault has confirmed that the Duster hybrid will feature a 109bhp, 1.8L, four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator. This setup delivers a claimed power of 160PS and 172Nm of torque, making it the most powerful hybrid powertrain in its segment.
Nissan Tekton Hybrid

Similar to the Renault Duster hybrid, the Nissan Tekton hybrid will use the same 1.8L petrol hybrid powertrain. However, its exterior design will be different.
Kia Sorento

In India, the Kia Sorento is expected to be offered with a 1.5L petrol hybrid powertrain. The carmaker will use locally sourced electric motors, battery packs, invertors and other key components to achieve competitive pricing.
Honda Elevate Hybrid

Honda Cars India is planning to launch the Elevate midsize SUV with a strong hybrid powertrain in 2026 or 2027. While official details are still under the wraps, the SUV is expected to share the 1.5L, four-cylinder petrol Atkinson Cycle hybrid powertrain with the City e:HEV.
Hyundai Creta Hybrid

The Hyundai Creta will go hybrid with its generational upgrade in 2027. The carmaker is likely to hybridize 1.5L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine for the SUV. It’s expected to be high on fuel efficiency and performance.
Kia Seltos Hybrid

The new-generation Kia Seltos recently went on sale in India. However, the lineup still misses out a hybrid powertrain. The SUV will receive a strong hybrid powertrain in 2027, likely to be borrowed from the all-new Creta hybrid.
Maruti Fronx Hybrid

The Maruti Fronx will be the brand’s first model to feature Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain. The compact crossover is likely to feature a 1.2L Z12, three-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a battery pack ranging between 1.5kWh – 2kWh and an electric motor.
