If you’re an avid automotive news reader, you must have recently seen spy images of the new-generation Toyota Fortuner SUV. While the spied prototype was heavily camouflaged, a few details have still emerged on the web. One of the biggest upgrades will come in the form of the ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system) suite, as the test mule was spotted featuring an ADAS module. It’s likely to be Level-2 ADAS, offering safety features such as adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, auto lane change, traffic jam assist and more.
Improved Styling
The new Toyota Fortuner is expected to share its platform and design elements with the next-generation Hilux. The SUV will feature Toyota’s new ‘future-focused’ design language and is likely to come with a heavily revised front fascia. It might sport a newly-designed grille with polygonal slates, redesigned headlamps with DRLs and new alloy wheels along with a revised rear profile.

Several New Features
Interior details are not available at the moment. However, the new Toyota Fortuner could be packed with new features and advanced tech including a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting latest-generation software, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, multiple Type C USB charging ports, rear centre armrest and height adjustable headrests, updated OTA (over-the-air) updates and more.
Same Engine Options
No changes are expected to made under the hood. The new Toyota Fortuner is likely to come with the existing 2.7L petrol, .28L diesel and 2.8L diesel engine options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will continue to be on offer. Reports suggest that the Fortuner might receive strong hybrid and electric powertrains at a later stage.
India Launch Timeline
The all-new Fortuner is likely to have its world premiere in the second half of 2026. The India launch timeline is yet to be revealed; however, it’s expected to arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. The new model will compete against the newly-launched MG Majestor, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
