According to a new rumor from a tipster on X, Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 will mark the return of ceramic as a case material. That would definitely be an interesting move from Apple, diversifying its material options for the Apple Watch while also possibly driving up the average selling price, since the ceramic model will likely be more expensive.
The last Apple Watch to be offered in ceramic was the Apple Watch Edition Series 5, which was launched in 2019. That’s a seven-year gap, and a long wait for fans of the material. It’s still unclear if white will be the only ceramic color option like it was for the Apple Watch Edition Series 5, or if Apple will go with some other choices as well. The Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to be unveiled in the first part of next month, perhaps on September 8 or 9, at the same event in which Apple will announce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra.
