Today AT&T is announcing “a fully customizable wireless experience” which lets you control what you pay for. It’s called Build-A-Plan and will be available from May 27 online only. It’s a 30-day rolling subscription.
If you’re interested, there’s a $15 per month base plan which includes unlimited talk and text as well as 1GB of data. Then you simply add what you need on top: 5GB of data for $5, 15GB for $10, unlimited data for $20 with SD streaming (2Mbps on 5G, 1.5Mbps elsewhere), and $35 for unlimited data with UHD streaming (this isn’t capped, you get the maximum possible speed at any given time).
If you opt for 1GB, 5GB, or 15GB of data, once you’ve run out of that allotment, your speed will be reduced to 128kbps for the rest of the 30-day term. If you purchase a higher data tier, this will replace, not add to your existing tier.
You can also choose how much hotspot data you need. By default you get none, but you can purchase 5GB for $5, 25GB for $15, and 50GB for $20. To use Build-A-Plan you must bring your own unlocked smartphone that supports eSIM.
