Official bookings for the BMW X1 long-wheelbase (LWB) have been commenced in India ahead of its launch on August 21, 2026. The SUV is expected to be priced at a slightly premium over the standard X1, which is currently available within the price range of Rs 50.9 lakh – Rs 52.9 lakh (ex-showroom).

Engine, Power, Top Speed

The China-spec BMW X1 LWB is available in sDrive25Li and xDrive25Li variants, both powered by a 2.0L, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This setup delivers a maximum power of 2024bhp and 300Nm of torque.  

The sDrive25Li FWD variant accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds, while the xDrive25Li AWD does the same in 7.7 seconds. It offers a top speed of up to 229kmph. Meanwhile, the India-spec standard X1 comes with a 1.5L, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and 2.0L, four-cylinder diesel engine options, delivering power worth 136bhp and 150bhp, respectively.

Dimensions & Design

Dimensionally, the X1 LWB measures 4,616mm in length, 1,845mm in width and 1,641mm in height, while sitting on a 2,802mm long wheelbase. It’s 116mm longer and 11mm taller than the standard X1, and has a 110mm longer wheelbase. The SUV offers a boot space of 540-litres, which is 64-litres more than the standard model.

Inside, the seat height has also been increased by 27mm, while the width of the headrest cushions has been increased by 37mm. Compared to the standard X1, the X1 LWB offers more generous rear seat space. However, the BMW X1 LWB largely retains the overall design and styling of the standard X1.

Interior and Features

In terms of features, the SUV is expected to offer a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, powered front seats, Harman Kardon sound system, auto park assist, connected car tech, a powered tailgate and more.
