Chennai suburban train travel woes: Railways to run 20 fast locals between Tambaram and Beach with these three stoppages en route
The first fast local will leave Tambaram at 7.40am

CHENNAI: As part of its remedial measures to make up for the reduced frequency of suburban trains on Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpet stretch, Southern Railway is set to operate 20 fast local trains between Tambaram and Beach in both directions during peak hours from Friday. The fast locals will start from Chennai Beach to Tambaram at 7.50am, 8.20am, 9.20am, 9.50am and 10.15am and will stop only at Egmore, Mambalam and Guindy. In the evening hours, the fast locals will depart from Chennai Beach at 5.15pm, 5.30pm, 6.20pm, 7.10pm and 8 pm.From Tambaram, the fast locals will depart at 7.40am, 8.10am, 9.10am, 9.40am, 10.05am, 11.10am, noon and 6.05pm, 6.50pm and 7.35pm to cater to the evening rush of commuters.Though the railways had earlier planned to operate just five 15-car trains in both directions, the decision was changed to have more fast trains spread out for the entire peak hours in both directions, based on the feedback received from commuters.
