Google is introducing Nano Banana 2 today, also known as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, following the release of Gemini 3.1 Pro not long ago. Nano Banana 2 is replacing Nano Banana Pro across the Fast, Thinking, and Pro models inside Gemini.
Nano Banana Pro will remain accessible to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers for specialized tasks via the three-dot menu. Nano Banana 2 is also headed to Google Search’s AI Mode, where it will be available through the Google app as well as mobile and desktop browsers.

Google promises that Nano Banana 2 delivers “the advanced world knowledge, quality and reasoning you love in Nano Banana Pro, at lightning-fast speed”. It makes rapid edits and iteration possible, and is powered by real-time information and images from web search to more accurately render specific subjects. Its deep understanding also helps create infographics, turn notes into diagrams, and generate data visualizations.
