Here’s the Sony Xperia 10 VIII that’s expected to launch next week

Sony recently announced a launch event for August 25, starting at 11 AM Japan time. Sony said it’s for a new Xperia product but didn’t reveal its name. This Xperia product is expected to be the Xperia 10 VIII, which was recently spotted on Geekbench and has now appeared in an official-looking image shared by Android Headlines.

The image below shows the Xperia 10 VIII’s design, which is almost identical to its predecessor – the Xperia 10 VII. It shows a dual-camera setup on the rear, placed inside a horizontally aligned camera island sporting the Sony logo. The NFC logo is also visible below the camera island.

On the right side frame of the Sony Xperia 10 VIII are the volume rocker and power button, which would double as a fingerprint scanner. The Xperia 10 VII also had a physical camera shutter on its right side below the power key, but it isn’t visible on the Xperia 10 VIII in the image because the lady’s hand covers that area. We’ll have to wait for more images to know whether Sony retained the camera shutter or ditched it.

There’s not much to ascertain from this Xperia 10 VIII image alone; however, thanks to Geekbench, we know it will run Android 16 and have the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. It’s the same chip that powered its predecessor. The Xperia 10 VIII unit that ran Geekbench had 8GB of RAM onboard, and it remains to be seen whether there will be more RAM options, as the Xperia 10 VII came in a single 8GB/128GB configuration.
