Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) registered total sales of 4,938 units in April 2026, including domestic sales of 4,069 units. This compares to 4,871 units sold in the same month last year. The carmaker’s exports stood at 869 units, witnessing a significant YoY decline from 1,511 units in April 2025.

Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said that the company has started the new financial year on a positive note, recording a 21% YoY growth in the domestic market. Models such as Amaze, City and Elevate manged to deliver decent volumes for the Japanese carmaker. Honda Cars India remains optimistic about sustaining this growth momentum with the upcoming launch of the City facelift and the Honda ZR-V.

Upcoming Honda Cars in India

The Japanese automaker is all set to launch the Honda ZR-V as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) along with the City facelift on May 22, 2026. While the ZR-V will serve as an image-building product and is expected to be priced on a premium, the updated City is likely to receive minimal changes both inside and out.

Honda ZR-V

In global markets, the Honda ZR-V is available with a strong hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 2.0L petrol engine, two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. This setup delivers a combined output of 180bhp and 315Nm of torque. It comes with three drive modes – EV, Hybrid and Engine.

The SUV is equipped with an electric CVT automatic gearbox and FWD (front-wheel drive) system. It can also be had with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine option, paired with a CVT transmission and AWD system.

Honda City Facelift

The new 2026 Honda City facelift is expected to draw its design inspiration from the global-spec Honda Civic. Inside, the sedan could get an updated infotainment system, new upholstery and trims and a 360-degree camera.

Under the hood, the updated City is likely to retain the existing 1.5L iVTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5L Atkinson cycle hybrid powertrain.
