Honda has an aggressive product strategy for the Indian market. The Japanese automaker aims to tap into the growing SUV segment with a range of new models, featuring ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. While the names and details of the upcoming Honda SUVs are yet to be revealed, here’s what the future lineup might include and what we can expect in terms of product details. 

Entry into Hybrid & Electric Segments

According to media reports, the Honda Elevate hybrid is in the pipeline with an expected launch timeline of late 2026. The carmaker might use the Honda City e:HEV 1.5L Atkinson strong hybrid powertrain for the SUV.

Save for the ‘Hybrid’ badging and minor cosmetic updates, the Honda Elevate hybrid is expected to look and feature similar elements to its ICE counterpart. When launched, it will compete against the Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming hybrid versions of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

Reports suggest that Honda is also working on a three-row hybrid SUV, which will mark debut of the brand’s all-new PF2 modular platform. Honda’s R&D center in Japan and Thailand will serve as the design and development hubs for the SUV.

The Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV has also been announced for India. Following Honda’s new-gen design language, the production-ready EV is expected to stay close to its concept, which was showcased last year The 0 Alpha SUV could be offered with two battery pack options – 65kWh and 75kWh.

Global Models For India

The Honda ZR-V will be introduced as a halo product via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route towards the end of 2026. Similar to the global-spec model, the India-bound version might use a 2.0L strong hybrid powertrain, delivering 180bhp. The SUV will feature an e-CVT transmission along with an optional AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

The Honda Prelude might also make its way to India. The two-door coupe will feature a 2.0L petrol engine producing around 200bhp, paired with a FWD (front-wheel drive) system. Similar to the ZR-V, the Prelude will serve as an image-building product.

New-Gen Honda City

The Honda City sedan is all set to receive a generation change sometime in 2028. It will be designed on the brand’s all-new PF2 platform, and is expected to come with significantly improved styling and a more upmarket interior. However, the powertrain options are likely to remain unchanged.
