Hyundai & Kia Confirm 2 MPVs For India – Petrol & Hybrid

At the last year’s Investors Day presentation, Hyundai confirmed 26 new products for the Indian market, all slated to arrive by 2030. The lineup highlights the brand’s entry into two all-new segments, an off-road SUV and an MPV, though the product names and details are still under wraps. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s sister brand – Kia confirmed 10 new models for India at its 2026 CEO Investor Day event, including the Syros EV, Sorento hybrid and Carnival hybrid.

As per official announcements, both Hyundai and Kia will introduce two new MPVs in India over the next five years. Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming models.

New Hyundai MPV

2025 Hyundai Stargazer launch

Hyundai revealed that its upcoming MPV will be positioned as a “family mover” offering “mobility for all”, hinting a mass-market product likley to be priced under Rs 20 lakh. If launched in this price point, it will compete with models like the Kia Carens and Maruti Ertiga. While the carmaker has not disclosed specific details, the MPV is expected to be either the Stargazer or the Staria.

Measuring around 4.4 metres in length, the Hyundai Stargazer appears to be a suitable fit for the Indian market. In select global markets, the MPV is available with a 1.5L petrol engine producing power worth 115PS and 144Nm of torque. It comes with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and an iVT.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

The current-generation Kia Carnival is available in global markets like the US with 1.6-litre petrol hybrid powertrain. This parallel hybrid system delivers a maximum power of 272PS and 367Nm of torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

As of now, there is no confirmation on whether the India-spec Kia Carnival hybrid will use the same powertrain or adopt an electrified version of the smaller 1.5L petrol engine. However, its overall design and styling, interior layout and features are expected to remain largely similar to its ICE counterpart.
