Hyundai To Launch 3 Hybrid SUVs in India – Two 7-Seaters

Amid increasing competition, Hyundai Motor India plans to expand its product portfolio with 26 new models over the next five years. The future lineup will include several new-generation models, all-new SUVs, an off-road SUV and an MPV, offered across multiple powertrain options. The South Korean automaker also plans to foray into the growing hybrid SUV segment with the new-generation Hyundai Creta in 2027, which will become the brand’s first hybrid model in India.

Following the new Creta, the carmaker will introduce two more three-row hybrid SUVs – the Hyundai Ni1i (codenamed) and the Hyundai Palisade. Here’re the launch timelines, powertrain and other key details of these upcoming Hyundai 7-seater hybrid SUVs.

Hyundai Ni1i

New Hyundai 7-seater SUV

In the company’s product lineup, the Hyundai Ni1i will be positioned above the Alcazar and below the Tucson. In terms of competition, it will go head-to-head against the Mahindra XUV 7XO, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the upcoming offerings like the Kia Sorento, Renault Boreal, 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.

While official details are not available at this moment, the SUV is expected to be based on the China-spec Hyundai Tucson LWB. Speculations suggest that the Hyundai Ni1i SUV could be offered with an electrify version of the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is likely to debut with the new-gen Hyundai Creta.

Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade is globally available in 7 and 8-seats configuration options. The SUV will mark debut of the brand’s next-generation 2.5L turbo petrol hybrid powertrain, delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 14.1kmpl and a total driving range of 1,015km.

This setup will produce a healthy power of 334bhp and 460Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed transmission, and offered with both FWD and AWD options. The new Palisade offers three drive modes – Eco, Sport and My Drive along with three terrain modes – Mud, Snow and Sand.

As Hyundai’s flagship SUV, the Palisade is expected to come at a premium price of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
