Infinix Hot 70 Pro unboxing

We’ve got an exclusive first look at the new Infinix Hot 70 Pro for you guys, plus an unboxing. Let’s get to it. The phone ships with a packed box. You get a 45W charger, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and a nice case with a pretty accented outline.

Ours is the Mirage Green model, which has a grippy vegan leather finish on the rear panel. The phone feels balanced in the hand.

What’s special about the Mirage Green model is the special light-up effect that’s fused into the vegan leather. Hit the panel with some UV light, and these small light-up particles appear on the surface.

It’s a subtle effect, most visible in darker conditions. It simulates a clear night sky.

There’s also a Thermo Orange variant, which changes the darkness of its orange hue with temperature (we’ve played around with such a finish on the Hot 70).

Another subtle detail of the Hot 70 Pro is the Active Matrix Cube LED on the back, nestled inside a third camera lens housing (there are only two cameras, more on that below). The tiny LED lights up for calls, messages, and charging, but it can also display custom animations. You can draw your own emoji or choose one of the preloaded animations. There are also two games on the mini display – Lucky Wheel and Lucky Numbers – one spins in any direction to “settle decisions”, the other generates a number from 0 to 9.

There’s also a dedicated AI button on the side of the phone. A short press can be set to save a contact, create a calendar event, or send a Gmail. A long press launches Infinix’s Folax AI assistant.

Let’s talk specs. The screen is a 6.76-inch FHD+ IPS LCD unit with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. The SoC of choice is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X. Infinix says the chip is capable of 780k+ in AnTuTu, and that you can get 90fps in supported games.

There are two cameras on the back of the phone: an 8MP unspecified camera, and a 50MP (1/1.95-inch IMX882) wide-angle shooter. The phone offers 1x and 2x shooting modes, both of which use the 50MP camera. We’re not sure what the second lens is used for.

The phone is IP68-rated but also features MIL-STD-810 certification to withstand “challenging conditions” (Infinix doesn’t specify which). There are two batteries on offer, depending on the market – users either get a 6,000mAh or a 5,600mAh.
