Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the first part of next month, most likely on September 8 or 9. As we wait for the event to happen, an intriguing new prospect has emerged.
The cases made for the iPhone 17 Pro may very well fit the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. One case maker has already created packaging that lists both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro as compatible with a specific case, as you can see in the image below.

This was surfaced by Mark Gurman on X, and he notes that Best Buy is already selling these in its stores in the US. Then, the CEO of a different Apple accessory maker confirmed this, saying it’s what he’s hearing from its suppliers too. Interestingly, he then replied to a question about the Pro Max saying that it will be the same situation for that device too, with cases for the iPhone 17 Pro Max fitting it.
This conflicts with multiple previous rumors that claimed both the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max would be thicker than their predecessors. So either those rumors were wrong, or what we’re hearing today is wishful thinking. Thankfully, we only have a few weeks to wait to find out for sure.
