Today the iQOO 16 has become official in China as the brand’s latest flagship smartphone. It comes with a 6.85-inch Samsung-made M16 AMOLED display with 1440×3168 resolution, a 19.8:9 aspect ratio, and a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel goes up to a mind-boggling 10,000 nits of very localized peak brightness. Full-screen peak brightness is also very impressive at 2,800 nits.

The iQOO 16 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. On the rear there’s a triple camera setup with a 50MP main 1/1.3-inch type sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus using a 1/2.75″ type sensor, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS, using a 1/1.95″ type sensor. This has 3x optical zoom and 6x “lossless” zoom, as well as up to 100x digital zoom. For selfies there’s a fixed-focus 32MP snapper.

The device sports an 8,400 mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 40W wireless charging. It runs Android 17 with vivo’s OriginOS 7 on top. The iQOO 16 is IP68 and IP69 rated for dust and water resistance, and it sports an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. It will be offered in three colorways, which roughly translate as “Chasing Light”, “Racetrack”, and “Legend”. The phone’s thickness and weight vary between these three, going from 8.3 mm to 8.55 mm and from 222.5g to 229.8g.

The iQOO 16 comes in four RAM/storage configurations: 12/256GB for CNY 5,999 (approximately $894), 12/512GB for CNY 6,799 ($1,013), 16/512GB for CNY 7,499 ($1,117), and 16GB/1TB for CNY 8,499 ($1,266). A global release hasn’t been announced yet, but should happen since the device’s predecessors also did eventually launch outside of China.
