Iran war reaches the Indian Ocean – US destroys Iranian frigate off Sri Lankan coast

An Iranian warship that had been welcomed at a multinational naval review in India weeks ago now lies at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Early March 4 morning, IRIS Dena sank about 40 nautical miles south of Galle in Sri Lanka after issuing a distress call at around 5.30 am local time.
Within hours, what began as a search and rescue operation off Sri Lanka’s coast became something far more consequential: US officials told Reuters that the United States had carried out the strike that destroyed the vessel. The war in Iran had knocked at India and Sri Lanka’s door, proving how swiftly this conflict, which is being framed as a regional upheaval, could reach more countries.
