Microsoft will release a Copilot super app this year

Microsoft is getting ready to create a single Copilot AI “super app” that will incorporate chat, coding, Cowork, and its new autonomous Autopilots. The app will be available for both consumers and businesses later this year.

This information comes from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who revealed the strategy during the company’s latest earnings call. Microsoft is only the latest company to join the race to create AI “super apps” which support chat, coding, and agents.

OpenAI has ChatGPT Work, while Claude has Cowork inside the chatbot. Obviously the idea here is that you’ll spend as much time as possible in an app that does more than just chat (or just code). That’s especially valuable for OpenAI and Anthropic, which are trying to make their upcoming IPOs as successful as possible.

Microsoft obviously has a lot of money to spend on this, even though its paid Copilot subscriptions are dwarfed by ChatGPT’s. Microsoft has 30 million paid Copilot users out of its pool of 450 million business seats.
