First launched in 2021, the Skoda Kushaq was the first model under the brand’s “India 2.0” program, based on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform specially localized for the Indian market. It was received very well, and helped Skoda establish its footprints in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. Amid increasing competition, the carmaker is gearing up to give it a midlife update, possibly in early 2026.
The new Skoda Kushaq facelift, which has been caught testing multiple times, is likely to hit roads in January 2026. The compact SUV is likely to receive subtle design changes, additional features and a new automatic gearbox.

Improved Styling
Spy images reveal that the new 2026 Skoda Kushaq will feature a slightly revised front grille with slimmer vertical slats, redesigned headlamps, new Kodiaq-inspired connected DRL and larger fog lamps. Save for the new matte-black alloy wheels, the side profile will remain largely unchanged. A few changes will also be made at the rear end including slimmer taillamps connected via an LED bar, and a slightly tweaked bumper.
More Features
The interior will be upgraded with two key features – a panoramic sunroof and Level-2 ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system). The SUV is likely to get a 360 degree camera along with new trims and upholstery.
Engine Options
The existing 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines will be carried over from the existing model. The smaller capacity motor delivers a maximum power of 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The 1.5L gasoline unit, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, pushes out a peak power of 150bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Skoda India might replace the existing 6-speed automatic gearbox (available with the 1.0L TSI petrol engine) with a new localized 8-speed automatic transmission. However, this mechanical upgrade might be introduced at a later stage.
