New 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Explained – What All Has Changed?

The new 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is now on sale in India. With this update, the bike becomes a beneficiary of the government’s GST 2.0 tax slab structure. Under this regulation, motorcycles up to 350cc attract 18% GST (down from 28%), resulting in a significant drop in ex-showroom prices. While the old Plusar NS400Z with a 373cc engine fell into the higher tax bracket of 40% GST, the new 350cc model with a downsized engine enjoys a massive tax advantage.

Priced at Rs 1,93,900 (ex-showroom), the new 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z appears largely similar to the old model. The bike continues to be available in four colour options – Glossy Racing Red, Brooklyn Black, Pewter Grey and Pearl Metallic White.

New Engine

The updated version uses a 349cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, borrowed from the 350cc Bajaj Dominar 400. While the bore (89mm) remains unchanged, the engine gets a shorter stroke of 56.1mm. It has also been retuned for generating slightly lower power and torque outputs. The 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z delivers a maximum power of 40.6PS at 9,000rpm and 33.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

What Remains Unchanged?

Similar to its predecessor, the new model features a 6-speed gearbox with bidirectional quickshifter, slip-and-assist clutch. The bike offers four ride modes – Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road. Built on perimeter frame, the new Pulsar NS400Z comes equipped with the same 43mm USD fork and pre-load adjustable monoshock suspension.

Other key highlights include switchable traction control, dual channel ABS and turn-by-turn navigation, LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The braking power comes from a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brake. The bike rides on 110-section front and 150-section rear tyres. It offers a seat height of 807mm, a ground clearance of 168mm and a fuel tank capacity of 12-litres. The Pulsar NS400Z has a kerb weight of 174kg.
