New German Luxury Sedan Gets 728km Range, 8K Screen & More


BMW India has recently introduced the updated versions of its flagship sedans – the 7 Series and i7. The 2026 BMW 7 Series is available in a single 740xDrive variant, priced at Rs 1.95 crore. Meanwhile, the 2026 BMW i7 facelift is offered in two trims – i7 50 xDrive and i7 M70 xDrive – priced at Rs 1.95 crore and Rs 2.65 crore.

While the 7 Series and i7 50 xDrive are brought to India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, the i7 M70 xDrive comes as a CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) from Germany. Both sedans receive significant design changes, a more premium interior and advanced technology. The i7 also gets a larger battery pack, offering higher driving range.

Engine, Power, Battery & Range

The 2026 BMW 7 Series features a 3-litre, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It produces a maximum power of 400PS and 580Nm of torque. The luxury sedan accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 5.4 seconds.

The new BMW i7 fully electric sedan is available with a 112.5kWh battery paired with two electric motors. This setup delivers a claimed range of 728km for the 50 xDrive variant and 686km for the performance-oriented M70 xDrive trim.

BMW claims that the i7 50 xDrive and M70 xDrive accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 5.5 seconds and 3.8 seconds, respectively. The electric sedan supports 250kW DC fast charging and can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 28 minutes.

Interior & Features

The 2026 BMW 7 Series and i7 facelift offer a more premium and tech-loaded interior. The sedan now offers a dashboard integrated 17.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a dedicated 14.6-inch passenger screen and a slim screen positioned on top of the dashboard for the instrument functions.

The top-notch material quality, multiple cabin theme options and a roof-mounted 31.3-inch 8K screen further enhance the cabin’s premium feel and appeal. The feature kit also includes a new four-spoke steering wheel, four zone climate control, 3D HUD (Head-Up Display), electric adjustment for all seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 1,965W 36-speaker Bowers & Wilkins 4D surround sound system, a digital IRVM, multiple drive modes and more.

On the safety front, the new BMW 7 Series sedans offer Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, etc.
