Honda Cars India recently announced its plan to launch six models in the current financial year (FY2027) including the already-launched City facelift and the ZR-V hybrid SUV. The Japanese automaker is also considering introducing its globally popular hybrid models in India such as the Civic, Accord and CR-V SUV.
Honda’s first BEV (battery electric vehicle) SUV based on the 0 Alpha concept is scheduled to launch in early 2027. Additionally, the carmaker will give a midlife update to the Elevate midsize SUV by the 2026 Diwali season.
Honda’s New PF2 Platform
In another development, Honda is working on an all-new global architecture of its small and medium-size vehicles codenamed PF2. This modular platform will support ICE, EV and hybrid powertrains. India will serve as the production hub for the upcoming PF2-based Honda models for both domestic and global markets.
New Honda 7-Seater SUV – What We Know So Far
Interestingly, a premium three-row SUV will be the first production model to underpin Honda’s all-new PF2 platform. Within the company’s portfolio, the upcoming Honda 7-seater SUV will sit above the Elevate midsize SUV and take directly on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and the upcoming 7-seater versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Renault Duster. Hyundai and Kia are also planning to launch new three-row SUVs in 2027, which will make the segment highly competitive for Honda’s upcoming offering.
The new Honda 7-seater SUV will be designed and developed at the brand’s R&D centres in Japan and Thailand, with inputs from India. According to reports, Honda might use the Elevate’s 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the three-row SUV. It could also be offered with a new strong hybrid powertrain option.
While the official launch timeline of the new Honda 7-seater SUV is yet to be announced, the model is expected to enter production by October 2027. Its market launch is likely to happen in late 2027 or early 2028.
