It is no secret that Hyundai will introduce the next-gen Creta in 2027, most probably in the last quarter of the current financial year. The SUV is currently undergoing extensive road testing in India as well as Europe. As its global debut draws closer, the prototypes have started losing camouflage, revealing more details about the new design.
As a reminder, Hyundai will also sell the next-gen Creta as the new Kona in select international markets. The latest spy images reveal that the Creta nameplate will ditch its polarising rounded profile in favour of a more traditional SUV design.
Next-gen Hyundai Creta Design Details
The spy images reveal that the all-new Hyundai Creta will have an upright stance, a wider track and a boxier silhouette. It gets a curvaceous front end with a signature sharp nose, which is likely to incorporate an illuminated light bar. The main headlamp units are now placed lower on the bumper, which also accommodates an active shutter grille. The SUV gets a wider lower intake and a pronounced front lip.
From the side profile, the next Hyundai Creta appears significantly longer than the outgoing model. It has a sharply raked A pillar, and a flatter roofline that merges neatly with the rear profile. The SUV is expected to feature smoother body panels and flared wheel arches with larger 19-inch alloy wheels. It is also likely to get flush-mounted door handles, and an upward sweeping beltine that merges nicely to form a smaller greenhouse.
The biggest change has been made to the rear profile, which features a simpler tailgate and a wider profile. It features an angular rear window and a pronounced spoiler, a practical tailgate and a rounded bumper that accommodates a ‘hidden’ exhaust.
2027 Hyundai Creta Interiors
It is no secret that the next Creta will come with Hyundai’s Pleos Connect system, featuring a large (approx. 17-inch) infotainment unit and a slim digital instrument console, complemented by an AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display). The SUV will come with advanced connected car tech along with real-time OTA updates.
Other key features likely to include a panoramic sunroof, electric Bose mode, powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and LEVEL 2 ADAS.
Engine Options
The global-spec Kona or Creta will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine along with a strong hybrid unit. The strong hybrid version will use a 1.6-litre petrol engine, a small battery pack and an electric motor, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The India-spec next-gen Hyundai Creta will retain the existing engine options, including a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel. It will also get a strong hybrid engine, which is likely to utilise the 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a front-mounted electric motor.
