Introduced in 2020, the Kia Sonet has been one of the top sales contributors for the South Korean automaker in India. Attributes such as modern styling, premium features and multiple engine options have always worked in its favour. In the sub-4 metre SUV segment, it takes on the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
Following the new Kia Seltos, the Sonet is now gearing up for a generational upgrade in 2027. Codenamed QY2E, the new Kia Sonet 2027 is expected to receive comprehensive design upgrades and feature enhancements along with a new platform and an additional powertrain option.

2027 Kia Sonet New Platform & More Space
According to Autocar, the new-gen Sonet will switch to the reinforced version of the K1 platform that also underpins the Kia Syros. This architecture is said to feature a stronger structural frame, offering improved crash protection, along with support for OTA (over-the-air) updates and remote diagnostics. The new platform will also expected to address the issue of limited rear seat space as it will provide a 20mm longer wheelbase, resulting in better cabin space.
