The Kia Sorento SUV is set to launch in India on September 4, 2026. Interestingly, it will become Kia’s first strong hybrid offering and its first ICE-powered three-row SUV in the country. While the prices and detailed specifications will be announced within 10 days, here are some exclusive details of the new Kia 7-seater SUV.

Delivery Timeline
Deliveries of the Sorento diesel will be commenced soon after its price announcement on September 4. Meanwhile, the hybrid version will be handed over to customers by early October, 2026.
Prices & Competition
Kia aims to tap the premium three-row SUV segment with competitive pricing against the monocoque SUVs such as Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian. The entry-level diesel variant of the Sorento will be priced as low as Rs 28 lakh, while the hybrid variants will cost around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). An introductory could offer further bring down the starting price, making the Sorento an affordable alternative to its rivals.

Diesel Engine
The Kia Sorento diesel version will feature the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder CRDi turbocharged engine. However, the exact power and torque figures for the India-spec model are yet to be revealed. In global markets, the Sorento’s engine specifications vary depending on the generation and market. Power will be sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Strong Hybrid Powertrain
The Kia Sorento will also be available with a strong hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder T-GDi turbo petrol engine, a 44.2kW electric motor and a 1.49kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This setup will produce a combined output of 230PS and 350Nm. The hybrid powertrain will be paired with a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission. An AWD (all-wheel drive) system will be exclusively offered with the Sorento hybrid.
Interior & Premium Features
The Sorento SUV lineup will be available in both 6 and 7-seats configuration options. The 6-seater version will get captain seats in the second row, while the 7-seater variant will feature a bench-type middle-row seat.
