JSW MG Motor India has lined up multiple new models for the Indian market over the next five years. The future lineup will include a mix of ICE (internal combustion engine), electric and plug-in hybrid models. Meanwhile, the carmaker is all set to unveil a new energy vehicle on July 16, 2026.

The upcoming model is widely expected to be rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560, which is already on sale in China with both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options. The latest sighting of the test mules suggest that the MG Starlight 560 could be offered with both PHEV and EV powertrains.

Hybrid Powertrain

Similar to the Wuling’s PHEV, the India-bound model will feature a 1.5L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 197bhp electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. It delivers a combined output of 197bhp and 230Nm. It offers an EV-only range of 100km and a combined range of 1,100km.

EV Powertrain

The Wuling Starlight 560 EV comes equipped with a 136bhp single permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 56.7kWh battery pack. Its pure-electric range is 500km and a total range is 500km. This electric SUV offers a top speed of 160kmph and takes 20 minutes to charge via DC fast charger.

Dimensions Explained

In terms of dimensions, the upcoming Starlight 560-based MG SUV is expected measure 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height. It will sit on a 2,810mm longer wheelbase, and offer a boot space of 763-litres. It could be offered in both 5 and 7-seats configurations.

Expected Features

While official feature list is yet to be revealed, the upcoming new MG plug-in hybrid SUV is likely to offer all comfort, connectivity and safety features available on the Wuling Starlight 560. The equipment list is expected to include a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette upholstery, OTA updates, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, a 6-speaker audio system, voice recognition, AC charging support, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, regenerative braking, multiple airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, Isofix child seat mounts, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, push button start and keyless entry.
