So, Redmi decided to skip over the Note 16 series and get straight to the 17 series, which will be released later this month. There will be four models according to rumors – Redmi Note 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and 17R – and we’ve seen leaked specs for two or three of them. Yeah, there is some confusion going on.
The Redmi Note 17 is said to have a flat 6.83” 1.5K display and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset – or 6s Gen 4, there are conflicting reports. It will have a large 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, plus a 50MP camera.

Note that this latest report attributes the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip to the Redmi Note 17 Pro instead, while the previous report had it with a Dimensity 7500. The new report also claims a 9,000mAh battery and a 50MP camera for the Pro.
It will be the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max that will get the Dimensity 7500, 200MP camera and 10,100mAh battery, not the regular Pro, says this report. The Pro Max will also have a flat 1.5K OLED display, though it’s not clear whether that means the same 6.83” panel as the two other models or not.
The phones will launch with HyperOS 3.1 (Android 16) out of the box. They will be equipped with stereo speakers. There are no specs for the Redmi Note 17R yet.

With the Redmi Note 15 series, there was no Pro Max model, but there was a Pro+. The Redmi Note 15, 15 Pro and 15 Pro+ used a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a Dimensity 7400 Ultra and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, respectively. The two Pro models had larger 6.83” 1280p+ OLED displays and 200MP cameras, while the vanilla model had a 6.77” 1080p+ OLED display and a 108MP camera. They had different battery capacities too (5,520mAh, 6,580mAh and 6,500mAh, respectively), but nowhere close to the 9,000mAh and 10,100mAh values quoted for their successors.
