Oppo joins the AirDrop party

Google initially launched AirDrop support in Quick Share for the Pixel 10 family alone, but then brought it to more of its own devices. Recently, it announced that Android phones made by other companies would gain support for the new Quick Share (which works seamlessly with Apple’s AirDrop), and today Oppo has confirmed that it’s joining the party.

The Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will receive a software update later this month which will enable the Quick Share – AirDrop interconnection. From that point on, if you own one of those two devices (or the Find X9 Ultra coming soon), you will be able to share stuff with Apple devices as easily as you can with Android devices, via Quick Share.

Oppo joins the AirDrop party

Oppo explains: “Without installing third-party applications, users can conveniently and securely transfer files between Oppo smartphones and iOS, iPadOS and macOS devices, improving cross-platform interoperability”. This feature, Oppo says, was developed in partnership with Google and MediaTek.

Previously, Oppo relied on its own O+Connect app to share stuff with an iPhone, but the iPhone needed to have a third-party app installed in order for that to work. Needless to say, the Quick Share way is a lot more user-friendly.
