2026 is set to be a significant year for the Indian automobile industry on multiple aspects including advancements in cleaner logistics, improved semiconductor capabilities, lower battery input costs and several new product launches.

OEMs have lined up a wide range of new models across segments, offering multiple powertrain options including ICE, hybrid, electric, flex-fuel and CNG. Nearly nine popular cars and SUVs are scheduled to receive major midlife updates this year including the Mahindra Scorpio N, Hyundai Verna and Exter, Maruti Brezza and more.

Upcoming Facelifted Cars/SUVs in 2026

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata Motors is set to launch the updated Punch EV in the next couple of months. The EV is expected to borrow the 45kWh battery pack from the Nexon EV, offering a range of over 450km on a full charge. It will also continue to be offered with 25kWh and 35kWh battery pack options. The updated Punch EV might get a premium sound system, a larger touchscreen, new upholstery and a 360-degree camera.

Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift

The 2026 Mahindra Scorpio N facelift is currently undergoing final rounds of testing, and is expected to hit showrooms in the coming months. The SUV is likely to receive major design changes at the front end. Inside, it might get a larger touchscreen, new digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof and several other feature upgrades.

Skoda Kushaq/Slavia Facelift

The new Skoda Kushaq facelift will go on sale in March 2026, followed by the updated Slavia. The new Kushaq retained the engines, while receiving a new 8-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. The lineup gets three new colour options along with significant design changes. Skoda has equipped the new Kushaq with a new digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, and several new features. Similar changes are expected for the 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift.

Hyundai Exter/Verna Facelift

Hyundai Motor India has already started testing the updated Exter compact crossover and Verna sedan, and the recent sightings hint at an imminent launch. The 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift is expected to feature the brand’s new global design language along with a completely revised front fascia. Inside, it could receive new upholstery, trims, improved material quality and several feature upgrades.

Spy images indicate that the 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift could feature a revised front grille and tweaked bumpers. The micro-SUV lineup might also get new variant nomenclature. However, the engine options are likely to remain unchanged.

Volkswagen Taigun/Virtus Facelift

Volkswagen is gearing up to update the Taigun midsize SUV and Virtus sedan in the coming months. Both models are expected witness changes similar to the new Kushaq and Slavia, respectively. However, the engine setup is likely to remain intact.

Maruti Brezza Facelift

The highly-popular Maruti Brezza is expected to receive major feature and mechanical upgrades along with the subtle design changes. Reports suggest that the subcompact could be offered with a Level 2 ADAS suite and an underbody CNG tank configuration. Some of the design updates could be inspired by the Victoris. It will continue to use the 1.5L NA petrol and 1.5L NA petrol + CNG powertrains.
