Samsung shows off a Privacy Display that can also measure your heart rate and blood pressure


Today is the first day of Display Week 2026 and Samsung Display will demonstrate a new OLED display that combines privacy and health tracking features, a display that improves brightness and color rendering, a brighter QD display and a stretchable display for cars.

The company’s upgraded Sensor OLED Display is a 6.8” panel, which incorporates biometric sensors that can detect heart rate and blood pressure. This is done by organic photodiodes, which are embedded alongside the regular OLEDs. These photodiodes detect blood flow by seeing light that comes from the display and reflects off your finger.

This display’s other impressive feature is that it also incorporates Flex Magic Pixel technology – this is the tech behind Privacy Display. Could we see this in a future Galaxy S Ultra?

Maybe. Anyway, this Sensor OLED Display bumps up the pixel density to 500ppi, up from the 374ppi of the display demoed last year.

The Flex Chroma Pixel display promises improved brightness and color rendering. It will reach up to 3,000 nits in High Brightness Mode thanks to LEAD. This is Samsung Display’s proprietary high-brightness OLED technology that works without a polarizer, which helps reduce power draw.

Flex Chroma Pixel will have superior color rendering with 96% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut. The panel is made with Phosphorescent Sensitized Fluorescence (PSF) emissive material, which improves color purity and color accuracy. Samsung Display says that while some panels trade brightness for color accuracy, Flex Chroma Pixel offers both.

Samsung Display is one of the main driving forces behind Quantum Dot (QD) panels. At this year’s Display Week it showcased new EL-QD displays that increase brightness by at least 25%.

The company demonstrated two panels – an 18” version that can do 500 nits (up from 400 nits) and a 6.5” version that does 400 nits (+33% compared to a similar panel from last year).

Another interesting development is the Stretchable Display 2.0, which was designed as an instrument cluster for cars. The stretchable aspect is used to expand and transform the speedometer depending on the driving conditions.

This Stretchable Display offers 200ppi density, a 67% increase from the 120ppi of version 1.0. 200ppi is the benchmark for automotive displays, according to Samsung.
