Following the launch of the Tiago and Tiago EV, Tata Motors is now gearing up to introduce the Sierra EV on June 30, 2026. The carmaker has also confirmed the Tata Safari EV will arrive duing this year’s Diwali season. Frequent test mule sightings suggest that the new Tata 7-seater electric SUV is inching closer to production. Codenamed ‘Tayrona’, the Safari EV will compete against the Mahindra XEV 9S, which is currently priced between Rs 19.95 lakh – Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Platform & Advanced Tech
Similar to the Harrier EV, the upcoming Tata Safari EV will underpin the brand’s Acti.EV+ platform, featuring the TiDAL (Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer) electrical and electronic architecture. This advanced E&E architecture enables integration of several technologies including OTA (over-the-air) updates, a 540-degree camera, complex connected car features and ADAS functionalities.

Battery Pack & Range
Tata Motors is yet to reveal the official powertrain details of the Tata Safari EV, the model is likely to share its battery options with the Harrier EV. The Tata Harrier EV is currently available with three powertrain configurations, including 65kWh RWD single motor, 75kWh RWD single motor and 75kWH AWD dual motor. The SUV delivers a claimed range of up to 622km on a single charge. The new Tata 7-seater SUV is expected to return a driving range of over 500km.
Design & Features
The overall design and styling of the Tata Safari EV will remain largely similar to its ICE counterpart. However, styling elements such as a closed-off grille, redesigned headlamps and bumpers, aero-optimized wheels and EV badging will set to apart from the regular model.
Interior of the new Tata 7-seater electric SUV is expected to be identical to its ICE counterpart. Most features are likely to be carried over including 10 speaker JBL audio system, In-car connectivity, 6-way powered front passenger seat, ventilated front and second row seats, Alexa compatibility, ambient lighting, dual zone climate control, wireless charger, gesture-controlled tailgate and more.
