Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE and disappointingly but not unexpectedly, it comes with a price hike. The new model is starting to pop up on Samsung.com and it will be available through carriers and retailers too – but you can’t have one just yet, the official start of sales is on September 4 (Friday next week).
The base phone remains at 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage – it’s the only S26 model to offer this configuration. The vanilla S phone already moved up to 12GB of RAM a generation earlier and, as of this generation, it has 256GB of storage as standard too (not counting the Enterprise Edition). Even Pixels and iPhones switched to 256GB as their cheapest option.

Maybe 256GB base wouldn’t make sense considering the price hike we mentioned above – the 128GB S26 FE costs $700 / €800, while the 128GB S25 FE was $650 / €750 at launch, so that’s a $50 / €50 increase.
Things get worse the higher up the storage tier you go – a 256GB example of the 2025 FE would have cost you €810 at launch. A new FE with 256GB storage is €900, a €90 difference. The somewhat rare 8/512GB version was €930, now it is €1,100, a €170 difference.

By the way, some regions like the US will not get the 512GB variant, but it does show up in the UK and in the EU. Still, for that kind of money, you may be better off trying to snag an S26 Ultra – we have seen 12/512GB models sell for €1,100-€1,200.
We’re sure these prices won’t last long after the Galaxy S26 FE goes on sale, but here is what they are at launch:
