Lava introduced the Virat V1 Pro in late August – an affordable 5G phone with a 6.75” 720p+ 120Hz display and a 6,000mAh battery. Now the company is launching the Shark 2 Pro, which appears to be the exact same hardware.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro has a 6.75” IPS LCD, a 720 x 1,600px panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 550 nits of brightness (in HBM mode). Nestled in a notch on the display is the 8MP selfie camera. There’s also a 50MP “AI camera” on the back. Both top out at 1080p @ 30fps video recording. Despite appearances, there are no additional lenses on the back – it’s just the wide camera. The phone supports face unlock with the front camera and there is a fingerprint reader on the side (280ms unlock time).

The phone is powered by the Unisoc T8200, a 6nm chipset with a 5G modem. It has an octa-core CPU (2x Cortex-A76 @ 2.3GHz + 6x Cortex-A55 @ 2.1GHz) and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. Lava has configured the phone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. Storage is expandable via the hybrid dual-SIM slot – if you sacrifice one SIM, you can add a microSD card up to 1TB in size. This same chipset is used in the Lava 2, by the way.
The Shark 2 Pro launches with Android 16 and it will be updated to Android 17, but that will be its last OS update. Lava is promising 2 years of security patches. And while the company describes the software as “bloat-free”, it did include its Vayu AI assistant.

The phone features a 6,000mAh Li-Po battery, just like the Virat V1 Pro. It supports 18W charging, which needs 2 hours and 40 minutes for a full charge (0-100%). Charging is done via the USB-C 2.0 port. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As we mentioned already, this is a dual-SIM 5G phone. It also has Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.4.
Lava Shark 2 Pro: 50MP rear camera • IP64 rating
The phone measures 8.7mm thick and weighs 207g. It’s rated IP64 – dust tight and splash resistant. Lava offers a 1-year replacement warranty on the phone and 6 months on the accessories, along with its Free Service@Home program.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro will be available through offline and online retailers soon at a price of ₹16,700 ($175). For what it’s worth, the Virat model costs a bit less at ₹16,000 (Flipkart).
