A couple of months ago, we heard that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will have a new chipset – supposedly, it will use the Snapdragon Wear Elite. One of the key upgrades on that chip is that it offers 5G connectivity – the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, which is powered by the Exynos W1000, only had a 4G modem (to be fair, so did the Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2).
Samsung never made a Bluetooth version of the Ultra like it usually does for the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Classic models. This will change this generation, claims GalaxyClub.
The Dutch publication has seen evidence that Samsung will release a Bluetooth version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 (it will have Wi-Fi too, of course, the point is that it won’t have cellular connectivity). This is for the Netherlands and, presumably, the rest of the EU.

By skipping the 5G modem, Samsung will be able to offer a cheaper version of the watch – this may have become necessary after rising RAM and storage costs pushed the company to increase phone prices. Which is what leads us to suspect that we’ll see the Bluetooth watch globally.
You may think “how much RAM and storage does a smartwatch have, anyway?” The answer to that is 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage originally for the Watch Ultra – this was bumped up to 64GB with last year’s refresh. Whether the Watch Ultra 2 will have similar capacities remains to be seen.
Currently, Apple’s latest smartwatches are the only ones with 5G connectivity.
