The Tata Punch retained the top spot with total sales of 21,313 units in July 2026 against 10,785 units in the same month last year. It registered a 97.6% YoY growth. The compact crossover commands an 18.3% share of the segment.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx outsold the Tata Nexon by a big margin to became the second best-selling sub-4 metre SUV in July 2026. The Indo-Japanese automaker sold 19,473 units of the Fronx compared to 12,872 units in July 2025, marking a massive 51.3% YoY growth. The Tata Nexon ranked third with total sales of 17,471 units, up 36.2% YoY from the corresponding period last year. It accounted for a 15% segment share.
The Maruti Brezza recorded a 14.3% YoY sales decline in July 2026. A total of 12,055 units of the Brezza were sold last month against 14,065 units in the corresponding month previous year. The subcompact SUV recently received a midlife update with a turbocharged petrol engine and subtle design changes and feature upgrades.
The Hyundai Venue was the fifth best-selling subcompact SUV in July 2026, with total sales of 11,095 units, compared to 8,054 units in July 2025. This translates into a 37.8% YoY growth. The Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Soent, Hyundai Exter, Skoda Kyalq and Toyota Taisor secured the remaining spots in the top 10 list, recording sales of 9,429 units, 8,913 units, 6,810 units, 3,337 units and 2,470 units, respectively.
