April 2026 proved to be a profitable month for the Indian passenger vehicle market, with total dispatches reaching 4,41,721 units, recording a significant 25.0% YoY growth. However, sales declined marginally by 1.3% compared to March 2026. Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the market, followed by Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai.

The Maruti Dzire emerged as the top-selling car in April 2026, recording sales of 23,580 units against 16,996 units in April 2025, reflecting a strong 39% YoY growth. The Tata Punch secured the second position with sales of 19,107 units as opposed to 12,496 units in the same month last year, marking a significant 53% YoY growth.

The Maruti Ertiga became India’s third best-selling car and top-selling MPV, posting total sales of 19,063 units. The fourth, fifth and sixth spots were secured by Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx, WagonR and Baleno.

With total sales of 18,126 units, the Tata Nexon registered a healthy 17% YoY growth, while the Hyundai Creta witnessed a significant YoY decline of 10%. The remaining sales figures are mentioned in the list below.
