Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is gearing up to launch its electric car – the Urban Cruiser EV, which is essentially a re-badged Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, albeit with a few cosmetic changes. The Toyota Urban Cruiser was showcased in its close-to-production form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, and the final model almost identical to the version displayed at the event.
Design & Dimensions
The official teaser highlights slim headlamps with LED DRLs, a sculpted bonnet and Toyota’s signature badge positioned at the centre. Other notable elements include the BEV badge and a charging port placed above the front fender. Dimensionally, the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to similar to the e Vitara, which measures 4275mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1640mm in height with a wheelbase of 2700mm.

Expected Features
Interior details of the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV are still under the wraps. However, the electric SUV is likely to share cabin layout and features with the e Vitara. This means, we can expect it come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, an Infinity sound system, a wireless phone charger, a glass roof, Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags as standard, front and rear parking sensors, a 360 degree camera with blind-spot monitor, an electronic parking brake with auto hold and more.
Battery Options & Range
The powertrain setup will also be borrowed from the Maruti e Vitara, which comes with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options. Both battery packs are paired with a front axle-mounted motor, delivering power worth 144bhp and 174bhp, respectively. The e Vitara is claimed to offer a driving range of 543km on a full charge. The Urban Cruiser EV is expected to deliver a range over 500km with the larger battery pack.
Competition & Prices
When launched, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will be positioned against the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Prices are expected to start around Rs 16-17 lakh for the entry-level variant.
