Amid increasing competition, Hyundai Motor India has adopted an aggressive product strategy, backed by a multi-powertrain approach. The South Korean automaker has confirmed the launch of the next-generation Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Bayon-based midsize SUV and a locally developed electric SUV by March 2027. All three upcoming Hyundai SUVs are currently undergoing extensive testing and have been spotted multiple times, both with and without camouflage.
The new Hyundai midsize SUV (codenamed BC4i) is slated to hit roads during the 2026 Diwali season, while the all-new Creta and electric SUV will arrive early next year. Here’re five interesting facts about the Hyundai BC4i (Bayon-based) SUV that we know so far.
Developed For India
The new Hyundai midsiz SUV, which is widely expected to be based on the Bayon, will be developed specially for the Indian market. Expected to measure around 4.18 metres in length, the model is likely to be based on an India-focused derivative of the Bayon architecture.
Product Positioning
In the company’s product lineup, the Hyundai Bayon will bridge the gap between the Venue and Creta, and will be sold alongside the Creta. The model will be positioned as a small, urban-focused compact SUV with crossover-ish stance. When launched, it will compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki Victoris along with the other existing SUVs in the segment.
Hyundai’s First 4metre Above CNG
According to reports, the new Hyundai SUV could be offered with the Creta’s 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. Interestingly, it might also become the first Hyundai measuring above 4-metre in length to get a factory-fitted CNG kit. Similar to its rival – Victoris, the Bayon SUV could feature an underbody CNG tank.
Level 2 ADAS
While official details are still under the wraps, the new Hyundai Bayon is expected to be packed with Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) – Hyundai’s SmartSense suite. It’s likely to offer features such as forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep and following assist, lane departure warning, blind spot collision warning and avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision warning, safe exit warning, high beam assist and more.
Boxy & Modern
Spy images reveal that the upcoming Hyundai midsize SUV will feature an upright and boxy stance along with Hyundai’s modern design language. Expected key design elements include split headlamps, connected LED bars, LED DRLs, newly-designed alloy wheels, a slightly rising window line, sporty rear bumper with reflectors, sleek LED taillamps and reverse lamps.
