New Delhi: Controversy has gripped the recently concluded season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with Vansh Bedi, who played for Central Delhi Kings, reporting a “fixing approach” by a cricketer from a neighbouring state. It has learnt that the young wicketkeeper-batter flagged the approach to the Anti-Corruption Wing, which was later document as well.“Vansh Bedi promptly reported a corrupt approach to the Anti-Corruption wing from a player from Uttar Pradesh, who was also playing a T20 league in the state. We have attached SLOs with every team this year and all our arrangements have been watertight,” said the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Secretary Ashok Sharma.The DDCA has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking advice on the matter, and how to approach the fixing claims stemming from a sting operation conducted by Tehelka.“We have written to the BCCI and will await their guidance,” added the DDCA secretary.It has also been learnt that, after being alerted by the DDCA, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) banned the Meerut Mavericks cricketer from playing in the UP T20 League.TimesofIndia.com has reached out to BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia for a comment and the story will be updated the moment they respond. Insiders in the Delhi cricket corridors feel there is more than meets the eye but DDCA officials will act after receiving guidance from the Indian cricket board.“DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations referred to in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority. The Association believes it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about any individual, player or franchise based solely on such allegations,” DDCA has said in a statement.“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes.”Central Delhi Kings were the runners-up this season, losing to South Delhi Superstarz in the title clash. Prior to this edition, Bedi played for Purani Dilli 6 and also had a stint with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
