WhatsApp is currently in the process of redesigning its Android app, according to a new report. The redesign is right now focused on the app’s navigation bar, which is getting a new look and a new item inside of it.
The image below shows the rough state of the current development – this is definitely not the final version of the redesign, since the Meta AI button appears in two different places.
These images do however seem to show that Meta AI is going to be a part of the navigation bar, and not relegated to a floating button above the Compose button anymore. Aside from that, the navigation bar is getting more oval-shaped and more transparent – if we dare say it, more in line with the one on iOS (but it doesn’t go all the way with the transparency, though).
It will of course have a dark mode version as well. This very early new design was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.38.10, which is now available for those who are part of the beta program for the app. Development could still take many more weeks until it reaches the point where the new design is ready for a public release.
