Xiaomi’s upcoming Mix Fold 5 may have just been certified for sale in China with the model number 2608BPX34C. This is interesting because the Mix Fold 5 has reached this step before any of the Xiaomi 18 family members.
That could imply that the Mix Fold 5 won’t launch alongside those devices in September, but will perhaps be introduced earlier. There’s usually something happening in mid-August, and that sounds like a pretty good bet.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4
Unlike the Xiaomi 18 family, the Mix Fold 5 doesn’t have to wait for Qualcomm to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, since it won’t be using that. Previous rumors told us that the Mix Fold 5 will instead go with Xiaomi’s own Xring O3 SoC, the much improved successor to the O1 from last year.
Speaking of specs, the foldable smartphone is expected to come with a 7.5″ to 7.6″ inner screen with a seamless crease, a 200MP camera, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 6,000 mAh battery which will support wireless charging. The Mix Fold 5 could be the first device to launch with the next-gen HyperOS based on Android 17. The only downside seems to be the rumored price, which is CNY 10,000 or $1,479 at the current exchange rate.
