Hyundai has planned several new models for the Indian market, targeting different segments with multiple powertrain options. Over the next two years, the South Korean automaker will introduce two major SUVs – the Hyundai Bayon-based midsize SUV to rival the Maruti Victoris and the Hyundai Ni1i (codenamed) to challenge the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Hyundai Bayon-Based Midsize SUV – What to Expect?
The Hyundai Bayon-based SUV is expected to arrive in the second quarter of FY2027 (between July-September, 2026). In the company’s portfolio, it will sit above the Venue while being sold alongside its midsize sibling – the Creta. Measuring around 4.18 metres in length, the new Hyundai SUV is likely to be offered with naturally aspirated petrol and dual-cylinder CNG powertrain options.
Spy shots suggest that the Hyundai Bayon will feature the familiar grille with horizontal bars, the Venue-inspired slim LED DRLs, front parking sensors, a radar sensor for ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and bumper integrated air vents at the front end. It’s expected to share several features with the Hyundai Creta.
New Hyundai 7-Seater SUV – What to Expect?
The Hyundai Ni1i will be positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson in Hyundai Motor India’s product lineup. Expected to arrive in 2027, this three-row SUV could be based on the long-wheelbase Hyundai Tucson sold in China.
The China-spec LBW Tucson measures 4,670mm in length, 1,865mm in width and 1,690mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,755mm. It features Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language and features a parametric jewel front grille, full LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs integrated into grille, front and rear skid plates, dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof rails, powered tailgate.
While official details of the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater are not available at the moment, it’s expected to be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain, which could be borrowed from the upcoming next-generation Hyundai Creta. The hybrid powertrain could be based on the Hyundai’s proven 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
When launched, the Hyundai Ni1i will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. The upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater, Toyota Hyryder 7-seater, Renault Duster 7-seater, Nissan Tekton 7-seater and the Kia Sorento.
