4 New Kia SUVs Coming By 2027

Kia India recently revealed its plan to expand its product lineup up to 10 models by 2030, with eight of them being electrified models. Three of these products are scheduled to arrive by 2027 including the Kia Syros EV, Kia Seltos hybrid and Kia Sorento hybrid. The new-generation Kia Sonet will also arrive in 2027; however, its hybrid version will be introduced at a later stage. Test mules of these upcoming models have spotted multiple times indicating extensive testing ahead of their official launches.

Kia Syros EV

Kia-Syros-Deliveries

The Kia Syros EV is set to go on sale in August 2026. It will be Kia’s smallest and most affordable electric model in India, challenging the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO. The electric iteration will retain the signature boxy silhouette and upright stance. However, aero-optimized alloy wheels, a charging flaps and several EV-specific changes will differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.

Based on the K1 platform, the Kia Syros EV is likely to borrow powertrain from the Hyundai Inster EV, which is globally sold with 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options.

Kia Seltos Hybrid

The Kia Seltos hybrid launch has been confirmed for early 2027. While powertrain specifications are not available at the moment, the SUV is expected to feature an electrified version of the existing 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. Expect for hybrid badging, the overall design and styling of the Seltos hybrid are likely to remain unchanged.

Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento will be a premium three-row SUV to rival the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Hyundai Alcazar. Powertrain details of the India-spec model are still under the wraps. However, the SUV is expected to share its hybrid powertrain with the upcoming Seltos hybrid. Globally, the Sorento is offered with a 1.6L turbo petrol hybrid powertrain, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Euro-spec model gets AWD as standard.

New-Gen Kia Sonet

New Kia Sonet Hybrid

Codenamed QY2E, the second-generation Kia Sonet will hit Indian roads in 2027, possibly during the second half of the year. The subcompact SUV will switch to a new K1 platform that also underpins the Syros. As the K1 supports the latest electrical and electronics (E&E) architecture, the new Sonet is expected to come with features such as OTA updates and remote diagnostics.

The existing 83bhp, 1.2L petrol, 120bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel engine options will be carried forward. The Sonet lineup is also expected to receive a new strong hybrid powertrain in 2028 or 2029.
