JSW Motors and Chery Automobile partnership is one of the important joint ventures for the Indian automobile industry, as it will mark JSW’s entry as an independent passenger vehicle brand. Chery is among China’s largest car manufacturers and owns brands such as Jetour, Jaecoo, iCAR and Exeed. Under this partnership, JSW Motors will leverage Chery’s vehicle platforms, components and technology, and manufacture vehicles for the Indian market.

Upcoming JSW Motor SUVs in India – Expected Models

Based on credible media reports, spotted test mules and officially showcased models, JSW Motors is likely to introduce five Chery-derived models in India. The Jetour T2 will be the first model to come under this joint venture, with an expected launch by October 2026. Following the T2, the carmaker is likely to introduce the Jaecoo J5 EV, iCar V23 EV, QQ3 EV and Jaecoo J7.

Jetour T2

The Jetour T2 will be assembled at JSW’s new facility in Chhartapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. In India, the SUV will be sold under the JSW badge, while retaining the signature boxy silhouette, upright stance, high ground clearance and Defender-like proportions. Globally, the Jetour T2 is available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain compromising a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, an electric motor, a larger battery pack and an automatic transmission.

Jaecoo J5

Jaecoo J5 is likely to be JSW Motors’ second offering in India, challenging the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The global-spec version is available with turbo petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options.

Chery iCar V23 EV

The Chery iCar V23 EV features an 81.76kWh NMC battery pack and dual motor AWD setup, delivering an NEDC-certified range of 430km. Its combined power and torque output stand at 211bhp and 292Nm, respectively. When launched, it will be positioned against the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti eVitara.

QQE EV & Jaecoo J7

Industry speculations suggest that the QQ3 EV and Jaecoo J7 might also make their way to India. If launched, the QQ3EV will target entry-level urban EV market and rival the Tata Tiagl EV. Meanwhile, the Jaecoo J7 SUV is globally available with three powertrain options – petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid.
