In January 2026, JSW Motors and Chery Automobile announced a partnership to enter the Indian passenger vehicle market. Under this collaboration, JSW will be responsible for local manufacturing, branding and market strategy, while Chery will supply product platforms, base models and components with limited technology sharing.

Competition In India
If launched, the Jaecoo J5 will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and other midsize SUVs, whereas the Jaecoo J7 will compete against the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass.
Measuring 4.2 metres in length, the Chery QQ3 EV could be introduced as a Tata Nexon EV rival. The Cherry iCar V23 is a lifestyle, off-road electric SUV that may not have a direct rival in India. However, in terms of dimensions and expected pricing, it will take on the mainstream EVs such as Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti eVitara.
