Hybrid vehicles are gradually gaining popularity in the Indian market, and with increasing demand, major OEMs are gearing up to expand their hybrid portfolios or entre the segment. Kia and Renault are among the leading car manufacturers planning to introduce their first hybrid offerings in 2026.
The Kia Sorento three-row SUV is expected to hit roads in the second half of the year, while the Renault Duster hybrid will be launched within six months of the arrival of its ICE-powered version. The all-new Duster with petrol engines is slated to debut on 26th January 2026, followed shortly by its market launch.
Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV

In global markets, the Kia Sorento is in its fourth-generation and available with multiple powertrain options including ICE, hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Kia India is expected to hybridize the familiar 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the 7-seater SUV.
Positioned as a premium offering, the Sorento hybrid comes packed with several advanced features such as dual digital displays, heated/ventilated seats, wireless charging, a Bose sound system, surround view monitor, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, ESC, Level-2 ADAS, vehicle management system and more.
Renault Duster Hybrid SUV

Globally, the SUV’s hybrid version (sold as the Dacia Duster) is available with a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine, paired with a 1.2kWh battery pack and dual motors. This setup delivers a combined power of 140bhp. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The 4X4 drivetrain system will be exclusively offered on the higher trims.
The Renault Duster hybrid will largely resemble its ICE counterpart in terms of design. Feature-wise, it’s expected to offer an Arkamys Classic 6-speaker sound system, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a 7-inch colour driver display, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, Level 2 ADAS suite, among other features.
