Mahindra Confirms New Electric SUV For 2027 -Harrier EV Rival?

Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed a new electric SUV for the Indian market, slated to arrive in 2027. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the name and full details of the product, it’s expected to be production-ready Mahindra BE.07 SUV, which was first unveiled on 15th August, 2022. Its original launch timeline was October 2026; however, that did not materialise. Once launched, the Mahindra BE 07 electric SUV will compete against the VinFast VF7 and Tata Harrier EV.

Similar to the concept, the production-ready BE 07 is expected to measure 4,565 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,660 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. It will feature less angular and SUV stance than the BE 6 coupe SUV. The final version is likely to stay close to the concept.

Built on the INGLO architecture, the Mahindra BE 07 concept sports C-shaped headlamps and taillamps, flush door handles and larger wheel arches. It has a futuristic interior with a large screen integrated across the full width of the dashboard, a large panoramic sunroof and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Similar to the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the BE 07 is expected to minimise physical controls for touch and haptic feedback.

Powertrain specifications are still under the wraps. However, the upcoming Mahindra BE 07 is expected to share 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs with the BE 6. Both are paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering power worth 228bhp and 282bhp, respectively. The torque output for both setups stands at 380Nm. The SUV offers multiple driving modes including Range, Everyday, Race, Snow and Custom, which are likely to be carried over to the BE 07.

The Mahindra BE 07 is expected to offer a claimed range of over 550km with smaller battery pack and over 650km with larger battery. The SUV will support DC fast charging of up to 180kW, similar to the BE 6.
