Maruti Victoris To Get 2 New Rivals From Hyundai & Kia

Competition in the midsize SUV segment is set to intensify with the arrival of two new SUVs from Hyundai and Kia. The upcoming Hyundai midsize SUV is widely speculated to be based on the globally sold Hyundai Bayon, and will be sit between the Venue and Creta. Meanwhile, Kia is working on a new SUV, which will be positioned below the Seltos and sold alongside it.

Both these upcoming midsize SUVs will directly rival the Maruti Victoris. Here’re the key details we know so far about the upcoming Hyundai and Kia midsize SUVs.

New Hyundai Compact SUV

According to media reports, the new Hyundai midsize SUV could be offered with two powertrain options – a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a CNG. While a manual transmission might come as standard, a CVT automatic gearbox will be exclusively offered with the petrol engine. The CNG version could feature a factory-fitted underbody-mounted CNG tank.

Measuring around 4.18 lakh, the new Hyundai Bayon-based SUV is expected to offer features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear parking sensors, Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech and more.

New Kia Compact SUV

Following a similar product strategy to Hyundai, Kia India is considering introducing a second offering in the same segment. While product details are not available at the moment, the model is likely to be offered with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. While hybrid and electric versions are also reportedly on the launch radar, they could be offered at a later stage.

The upcoming Kia compact SUV is likely to measure around 4.2 meters in length and share its design elements and features with the Seltos. Expected features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, sunroof, multiple airbags and more.
